Members of the Audubon Fire Department are all-volunteer with roster consisting of over 50 members operating from their single station. The station is located in Camden county and works with the EMS dispatch to keep the residents safe. Being a part of the downtown district means the department maintains a very active role in the community providing services like fire rescue and EMS assistance. With over 400 calls a year you could say that the department is kept very busy. While the normal coverage area does include 1.5 square miles the response district also includes Borough of Audobon, and certain responses into the town of Audubon Park, Oaklyn, Haddon Heights and Mt. Ephraim. The community includes a shopping mall, several business districts and residential housing. The goal of any fire department is to provide services to the residents, businesses and visitors of the town, all while maintaining a high level of professionlism and readiness. Training will also be a priority of any department. To maintain a proactive department it is important to have both courage and discipline.

As with any situation that involves fire you should be careful and diligent with safety measures. A box of matches should be stored in a way where children cannot get to them while unattended. Make sure to store things like plastic bags in a safe place where kids cannot reach them. If you allow children to play with boxes make sure you remove all plastics from the boxes. As always, be sure to be safe and sane when using fireworks. Not just around the Indepence Day holiday, but all year round.
